At Kongens Have, walk the Knight's Path, a lime-tree avenue which intersects the Lady's Path near the center of the park. King Christian IV established a pleasure garden in the Renaissance style in 1606, which was redesigned in the Baroque style in the 18th century. The oldest and most visited park in the city features statues, monuments, and several historical buildings, including Rosenborg Barracks, home to the Royal Guards. Look for the oldest sculpture in the garden of a lion with a humanoid face which is tearing apart a horse. The early 17th century sculpture most likely illustrates a Persian legend about the battle between light and darkness. A beautiful garden in the middle of the city. Visited during Spring and the weather was great. Nice place for a quiet stroll. Worth a visit. more »
A garden suited for a king indeed, this beautiful park is a nice escape from the city noise with beautifully laid out garden surrounding the impressive Rosenborg castle. It is a nice place to take a quiet stroll and enjoy the water fountains, lakes, trees and flowers that Copenhagen has to offer. We visited during the Spring so the weather was amazing and all the ducks and birds were leisurely walking around. A scene I will never forget!
Nice place for a piknik when the weather allows it. There is a small but nice playground at the North part of the park suitable for young children. It can get quite crowded during the weekends and when the weather is nice. Nice cafes/restaurants in walking distance.
