The State Chateau of Hluboká, Hluboka nad Vltavou

4.7
#1 of 8 in Things to do in Hluboka nad Vltavou
Founded by the kings of Bohemia, The State Chateau of Hluboká sits in the middle of an English-style landscape garden. Although the castle originally dates back to the 13th century, its current appearance is mostly the result of a 19th-century reconstruction project, intended to give it a facelift based on the Tudor architectural style. A protected cultural monument, the castle offers guided tours of its tower, ceremonial rooms, private apartments, and servants' kitchens. Before you join a tour, get the flavor of the place by strolling through the garden, open daily and free to enter. Check the website for a two-part castle booklet, detailing the castle's history and available tours. • The first visit to the beautiful castle amazed us completely. The sheer championship of local carmakers is impressive. Every room unique and all in very good condition. Thank you very much for the guide which has promoted the whole impression with a smooth and natural interpretation complemented by interesting attractions. Probably the most beautiful Czech castle and even though the perfection is too much;)

  • Beautiful Castle, definitely do the tour even if they don't have your language. Probably the most ornate and impressive interior of any Castle in Czechoslovakia. They have cards with most of the guides' information in a variety of languages, so your can do the Czech tour if you, like us, don't speak Czech. Also visit the gardens.
  • I've seen quite a few Castles during two years I lived in Czech Republic and this one is one of the best to visit by far. Both inside and outside are very well preserved and architecture of this castle is similar to France. I recommend one of the tours to see how lavishly lords and ladies lived.
