A World Heritage Site, Kato Paphos Archaeological Park features monuments from prehistoric times to the Middle Ages, including some of the finest mosaics in the Eastern Mediterranean. See remnants of Roman villas and fortresses, some of them with floors made of colorful stone, representing scenes from Greek mythology. Take a walk through the arid lands, over dunes, and among ruins, and look for monuments such as Ancient Odeon--a 2nd-century theater built entirely out of limestone blocks--and Saranta Kolones, which features remnants of a Byzantine castle destroyed in a 1222 earthquake. Brilliant Well worth a visit See the video too to explain a bit more Takes a while to see it all Take a bottle of water if it’s hot more »
This is a most beautiful area of Paphos and well worth a visit. Whether you are interested in ancient mosaics and ruins, birds and flowers or just beautiful scenery it is the place to go. The admission cost also covers a map of the grounds, and there are books and ornaments to be bought to remind you of your visit.
Travelling back in history through the ages was stunning. The mosaic floors were breathtaking. You really feel as if you’ve been taken back. It’s amazing how close to everything you can get, you really feel immersed in the history of the area. To have been how much it has changed over time is fantastic. Improved signage and maps would make this place five stars.
