Casa de Diego Velazquez, Santiago de Cuba

4.3
#1 of 8 in Museums in Santiago de Cuba
Intricate details carved in dark wood make Casa de Diego Velazquez a desirable destination for visitors interested in learning more about Cuba's rich cultural and artistic heritage. Built between 1516 and 1530, the house remains the oldest building one the island, which once served as the residences of Spanish conqueror and first governor Diego Velazquez. Each room presents a window into the past, featuring French porcelain, Spanish ceramics, and other decorative objects with an obvious Moorish twist. To get the most out of your experience, visit the museum with an English-speaking guide. Plan my Santiago de Cuba trip by asking Inpirock to come up with tips and suggestions.

  • A beautiful Museum, to see how the Landowners amassed the Wealth. The Window Ventilation, Wood panelling, is unique, almost like in India.

  • Nice museum and worth your time and money. Ask someone to give you info about this place because it has some secretes. Next to stairs on second floor you'll find an old table. Pull 2 block's which are looked like a book and you'll find a secret box:)
