Yim Tin Tsai is an island of Hong Kong located in Tolo Harbour.Plan to visit Yim Tim Tsai during your Hong Kong vacation using our convenient Hong Kong trip itinerary app .
Yim Tin Tsai is located in Tolo Harbour and forms part of the southern border of Plover Cove. It is connected to the mainland in the north by a road, leading next to The Beverly Hills, and to the island of Ma Shi Chau in the east by a tombolo that is only accessible when the tide is low. Sam Mun Tsai New Village (三門仔新村) and Luen Yick Fishermen Village (聯益漁村) are located in the north of the island. The two villages are facing the Shuen Wan Typhoon Shelter (船灣避風塘).
While Yim Tin Tsai is not part of the Ma Shi Chau Special Area, a small unnamed island located about 100 m northeast of its shore belongs to the Area.
A late Neolithic prehistoric site dating back to about 4,000 years ago has been identified on Yim Tin Tsai. Prehistoric sites have been discovered on two other islands of Tolo Harbour, namely Yuen Chau Tsai (3,000 years, Bronze Age) and Centre Island (6,000 years, mid-Neolithic Age).
Members of the Hakka Chan (陳) clan moved from today's Shenzhen and settled in Yim Tin Tsai during the 19th century. Other members of the clan settled in Yim Tin Tsai in Sai Kung and in Ping Yeung, in Ta Kwu Ling, North District. Salt fields were operated on Yim Tin Tsai at that time.
Yim Tim Tsai Reviews
Pretty church, great restaurant (Chef de Yim Tin) and interesting place. Sitting and having an afternoon beer at Chef de Yim and his superb sardine sandwiches is a bliss. more »
想來鹽田仔.可以在西貢碼頭坐船.約20分鐘.HKD50元. 最好是假期來. 平日人少.很荒涼.走在小路有點不安全感. 比較不會覺得很淒涼 more »Want to come to salt. You can take a boat at the West contributions pier. About 20 minutes. HKD50. It's better to be a holiday. There are few people on weekdays. It's a cool. It's a bit insecure to walk down the path. It doesn't feel very Esther. Cool
Buy ferry tickets at any one of the booths next to the Saikung public piers and depart from No.10. It's HK$50 for a return ticket. Make sure you check the ferry times as the last one depends on the tide. This small island features a chapel, a salt farm, a few derelict houses and a small indoor exhibition of ancient artefacts dug up over the years. The chapel has been preserved and is a sight to see but note there's a request for appropriate clothes to be worn if going inside. A couple of stalls and a restaurant are nearby the pier and a easy trail around and over the island. There's a causeway to the nearby Kau Sai Chau public golf course.
Interesting historical site. It is a small island but lots of informative signage as it is now a revived heritage site. There is a small snack stall near the jetty so bring cash to try some local rice cakes. We paddled over in canoes from Sai Kung.
