Tung Lung Chau, also known as Nam Tong Island is an island located off the tip of the Clear Water Bay Peninsula in the New Territories of Hong Kong. It is also referred by Hong Kong people as Tung Lung To or Tung Lung Island. The island is largely uninhabited. Administratively, it belongs to Sai Kung District.
The island has an area of 2.42km2. It forms the eastern boundary of Tathong Channel, which leads into Victoria Harbour through Lei Yue Mun. The northern tip of Tung Lung Chau is separated from the southern tip of Clear Water Bay Peninsula by the narrow Fat Tong Mun Channel. The highest point of the island is at Nam Tong Teng, at an altitude of 232m.
Emperor Duanzong of the Southern Song Dynasty once stayed at Kwu Tap on the island.
Tung Lung Chau is the site of Tung Lung Fort, which was constructed 300 years ago and recently refurbished. A prehistoric stone carving can also be found on the island. Measuring 180 cm by 240 cm, it is the largest ancient rock carving in Hong Kong. Both the fort and the stone carving are declared monuments of Hong Kong.

  • Thirty degrees of mountain really wonderful, line under the explosion of the forest, the return to kill people! Good color companion with a watermelon ready-to-eat! A belly hole is good to be proud, look at the triangle, near to see how many angles, the most important is usually a lot of garbage, but a hole is good to dry. After the trip to the "holiday stodo" lunch, super good greeting, the boss Zhongyu invited us to warm water, bean ice good taste, good!

  • Only in the holidays or Six Saturdays Sundays can only take a boat to the island, and the daily frequency is also limited, so catch a 10:10 of the boat, the boat journey to 30 minutes! Because there is no supplement to the station midway through, so early in the morning to bring two bottles of water, but because the weather is very inflammatory, the road up the mountain is too oblique, the last can only be half

  • What a great island for a good, at times tough hike. Lovely views and some historical sites. There is a campsite which was quite full. There are great little local restaurants where the food is cheap and the staff speak English well! Hop onto the ferry at Sai Wan Ho and then change to another ferry just across the water in Kowloon. Really enjoyed it!
