Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple, Hong Kong

4.0
Popular for its claim to make wishes come true, Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple hosts three religions including Taoism, Buddhism, and Confucianism. Its traditional Chinese-style architecture features red pillars and golden roofs intricately decorated with carvings, latticework, and friezes. Participate in an old custom by praying, which involves lighting incense sticks, kneeling before the main altar, and making a wish. When you are finished, look for cylindrical containers holding numbered sticks. Shake the container until a stick falls out, and find your fortune paper corresponding to the number. • An oasis of calm in the middle of the city. So peaceful and beautiful you could get lost in your own thoughts for hours here. Sitting watching the carp listening to the water transports you to another...  more »
  • The location is very close to the train station. Is it just my research mistake or is it being renovated? Like, i was not able to visit three places. However, it was compact and was easy to turn around. Because it was evening, there were few people.

  • This place is actually super cool, and sits on a very large area. For being inside the city it's pretty impressive. The subway actually stops right in front of the temple which is very convenient. The entrance is free, although donation is highly recommended. Temple is huge, and there's a huge garden that is still being built behind the temple where it's quiet pretty and a nice place to meditate. There's multiple areas the house different statues of God's etc. I was especially impressed with the 12 zodiac signs bronze statue in the front courtyard.
  • This temple is absolutely beautiful! Very calm and tranquil during my visit; a contrast from the very busy middle of the city location. The temple, as well as the fish and turtle pond, is very photogenic. It’s easy to see how much effort the staff puts into making and keeping this place looking fabulous. Highly recommend stopping by this temple. We spent about 20 minutes walking throughout. Entrance is free. Public transportation is nearby.
