  • Despite having to share our walk with the mosquitoes, we enjoyed our hike which does require sturdy shoes as the trail is rocky and rooty. Enjoyed both the beaver dam and lake views as well as the fin...  more »
  • Unfortunately it was raining when we did this walk but it did add to the wildness of it! It was amazing to see the dam formed by the beavers, though we were not lucky enough to see an actual beaver!  more »

  • Beautiful trail. In the guidebooks as the place most likely to see beavers and other wildlife. I think we set off a bit late to see the beavers but we saw lots of bird and small animal activity, as well as the spotted turtles and one shy deer. A leisurely 10km walk which can take the whole day due to lots of stopping and admiring of the scenery.
  • Looking to see beavers in their natural environment? Head to the Beaver Pond Trail in Algonquin Park. The trail is one of the most interesting trails to do at Algonquin Park, and features beautiful and natural displays of beaver-built dams, beaver ponds, and beaver-made habitats. The trail itself is relative short (approx. 1.2 km) and easy. The end part of the trail is a light uphill stroll. The Beaver Pond Trail also features a beautiful lookout point near the end of the trail. There are benches where you can sit down, relax, and soak in the beautiful view of the Beaver Pond Trail before exiting the loop. Head over to the Beaver Tail Food stand after your hike for some delicious, Canadian-made pastries.
