  • Not that much to see except some big stone walls in the middle of the Forrest, although a bit atmospheric and interesting history with a touch of mystery. Short visit is enough.  more »
  • The ruins of Loropéni, an ancient fortress, are classified in the world heritage of UNESCO. Composed of rubble of laterite, this fortress and its high walls impress again. We can also observe a lush vegetation that grows between walls. This witness of the past is to see to its eventful history (the fortress was repeatedly abandoned).

  • The ruins of Loropéni are located in the southwest of Burkina Faso, about 40 km west of the town of Gaoua. The site was once a walled city surrounded by a high wall of 6 meters of stone. There was a lot of archaeological work that was done before the history of the region is well known.
