The Baku City Circuit is a motor racing circuit in Baku, Azerbaijan constructed near Baku Boulevard. A lap of the circuit is 6.003km, making it the second-longest circuit on the Formula One calendar. The inaugural Formula One race at the circuit was the 2016 European Grand Prix and its support events. A year later, in 2017, the circuit held the inaugural Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
DevelopmentIn December 2013, Formula One President and CEO Bernie Ecclestone suggested that the race would be run in but later said that because the Korean Grand Prix organisers were in breach of contract, it would be moved to. However, in July 2014 it was announced that the race's debut would be delayed until 2016.
DesignThe six kilometre, anti-clockwise layout of the circuit was designed by circuit architect Hermann Tilke. The circuit was planned to start adjacent to Azadliq Square, then loop around Government House before heading west along a 1 km straight to the Palace of the Shirvanshahs and Maiden Tower. Here, the track was planned to have a narrow 7.6m uphill traversal and then circle the Old City before opening up onto a 2.2km stretch along Neftchilar Avenue back to the start line. The circuit was projected to be the fastest street circuit in the world, with a top speed close to 360 km/h and the second longest circuit on the current F1 calendar behind the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium which currently is the longest circuit on calendar.

  • The city centre of Baku is a perfectly guarded place within the fortress walls called the inner city. There are many historical and old buildings such as mosques, madrasa, complex, Fountain, Han Hamam and caravanserai. One of the most beautiful places to be in Baku. There are many small shops and stores, and there is a very good option for getting souvenirs.

  • I will have a great team
  • What a fantastic place to see visit and to watch the race. We had seats in the grandstand in the old town. It was not the easiest to get to but we had a great view. The toilets were not the best at our grandstand and on race day only one was open which meant long queues. Fantastic restaurants, pubs etc highly recommend the Shakespeare for a bit of late night rock and roll .We only went to the concert on the first night. It's a long walk from the bus drop into the crystal hall then no seats for F1 4day ticket holders. Even tho lots of seats available, A pain after a long day at the track. Taxi drivers consistently tried to overcharge. 50 manat for a 5 manat journey. Stick to the buses. Such a wonderful city with plenty to see . We used the funicular to get down to the track. .
